To Do... list for PoliceWiki
sockii's current tasks
- Finish page templates. List yet to tackle:
- Template:Gear
- Template:Performances overview
...anything else I'm missing?
Build announcement/tag templates to be used within articles. Mostly done, except for Neutrality and Under Construction tags which might be useful.--Sockii 08:03, 6 February 2008 (PST)These are all done unless I think of any more that are necessary/usefull to have.--Sockii 20:44, 7 February 2008 (PST)- Properly attribute/tag common images, make sure licensing/usage stuff makes sense. Working on it. Just a few strays to find.--Sockii 08:03, 6 February 2008 (PST)
- Complete basic help and about pages. This is, I think, good enough for launch at this point.--Sockii 17:39, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
Draft messageboard announcement for official launch, which can be reposted around at will.Draft is up at PoliceWiki:Announcement and can be edited/looked over at will.--Sockii 03:24, 8 February 2008 (PST)Draft email to send to Police historians/collectors/website admins whose information and help would be appreciated, inviting them to participate.Draft is done and viewable at PoliceWiki:Invitation email. I'd love it if folks would look and comment.--Sockii 06:46, 7 February 2008 (PST)- Putter about adding some images like singles/magazine/etc images that I have on hand which will be handy, whenever I don't feel like tackling stuff that requires brainpower.
- Build more userboxes for fun and mischief.
- Respond to DM in lolCat when the brain stops working.
Add this rss-reader extension, so we could have some sort of Police news feed imported into the wiki.- Can't do it, dreamhost won't allow the extension without a lot of wonky runaround coding.--Sockii 10:58, 7 February 2008 (PST)- Assist DM in
killingdisambiguating Stewart. (Much obliged.--DM-Kellie 09:34, 30 March 2008 (PDT))
DM's tasks
KillDisambiguate Stewart (I'll help.--Sockii 09:28, 30 March 2008 (PDT))Hash out songs/compositionsABC song cats- Dump "Albums"?
move Songs (Police)?- Think later: Songs (Orchestralli)?
Site Map and clean up architectureRemember to move mapAdd templates to Police songsFix links in Police albums (disambigs)- Venues (band)
- Figure out how to anchor link asterisk in Site Map
- Figure out how to do footnotes
- Surf through and fix all "the" and "a/an" alphabetizing
- Proofread those Help and About pages once they're complete
- Email sockii with annoying questions
- Deal with historic events redirects
- Learn to speak lolCat
- Double-check the templates one more time (including comments/instructions) to make sure we haven't changed anything
- Comb through the Disambig pages for consistency (cf. Shadows)
* Check templates
- Apply some brain cells to Memorabilia architecture
- Fix Orchestralli (disambig)
- Vet each template as sockii wills it into existence with the power of her mind
- Later: Flesh out Henry
- WAAAAAAY after launch, think about book tours, screenings tours, exhibits, etc. But only after much druggage.
- Double-check architecture and map
ref: Something like this would probably be a good model to follow for mapping? Just a thought...--Sockii 03:27, 8 February 2008 (PST)
- Exactly what I was thinking, only theirs is way prettier than I had in my head. I was thinking of coupling it with a page-by-page check of the whole wiki, but I may need to separate those a bit just for the sake of time. --DM-Kellie 11:10, 8 February 2008 (PST)
other thankless jobs...
...open to any assistants who'd like to help out
- Continue adding stub pages for articles planned for the wiki, so as to troubleshoot and plan categorizing properly.
- Definitely need stubs for missing band songs, books, performance dates (Police tours (Outlandos through Reunion), Sting tours, Andy tours (2001 Andy Summers Trio and 2004 Andy Summers trio))
- Make sure every Template listed at Help:Templates has at least one example usage in place, which can be listed in the table on the Help page. As you can see, there are a bunch of page types with missing examples so far. This will help us troubleshoot the templates as well.
- Continue using templates such as Template:Album and Template:Performance to build up some basic info in various key areas of the site. Even if only the basic info sections are filled in, this should encourage new users to go in an edit more details themselves.
- Start uploading image files which will no doubt be included, with the appropriate information pages filled out. (Example: Image:Police-album-reggattadeblanc.jpg). Link them to appropriate stubs, even if templates will be added later. (User:Lkkinetic has been tackling this well for album covers.)
- Standardize all song titles to all initial caps (both in Songs sections and in Discographies)
yet more jobs, thankless and otherwise
- Take volunteers for additional sys ops, as needed (folks who show good understanding of wiki markup and add good content will probably be approached for this.)
- Cross-promote more with FanHistory and other websites
