Together with Stewart Copeland and Mick Jacques Darryl was a member of Stark Naked And The Car Thieves and Curved Air (up until 1976-08-05). In 1978 he played violin on the Wayne County & The Electric Chairs song Trying To Get On The Radio. In 1989 he worked with Stewart Copeland on his opera Holy Blood and Crescent Moon. In 1993 he performed with Sting for the Night of the Proms concert series.
