|Final show announcement|
|Location:||New York, NY, USA|
On 2008-06-05, The New York Times published a story announcing that the final Police concert would take place on 2008-08-07 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. According to the announcement, "A $5,000 donation will get the V.I.P. treatment — dinner, a party, attendance at a sound check — while $150 will secure a pair of tickets."
Tickets would be sold during a PBS pledge-drive on 2008-06-14.
The announcement was met by a flurry of reactions from fans. While relieved to finally know the date of the final show, many expressed concern over the manner in which ticket sales would be handled. On ThePolice.com, Police HQ reacted testily when criticized that the news was announced first through the New York Times and not the fan club.
