Trivia
The afternoon before this gig The Police drove out into the country for a photo session dressed up as gauchos.
This concert was planned to take place on 1980-12-13 at 10pm, but was re-scheduled. As Sting was ill the week before The Police wanted to cancel all their South American dates. But the promoter from Argentina convinced the band to come to Argentina. As this was a last minute decision and equipment had to be moved to Argentina they re-scheduled the Obras show and the Mar del Plata show.
Newspapers now announced this concert for today at 9pm.
There were about 3.000 people in the audience.
Inside the venue military and police officers were slapping people to make them stay down. When a policeman hit a girl who had leapt up from her seat Andy Summers started to attack the policeman.
After the concert Andy had to apologise to avoid being imprisoned. Sting and Stewart Copeland were told to get back to the Sheraton hotel.
The police brought their own photographer to take a photo of Andy and the policeman he had attacked - shaking hands and smiling. Journalist Gordon Blair had to drive a shaking Andy back to his hotel.
