Introduction
The score to the PlayStation video game Spyro The Dragon was composed and recorded by Stewart Copeland. The soundtrack was never officially released as an album.
According to Ruth Brain, who posted a petition online for the official release of the Spryo The Dragon sountracks,
"The music was something special, and different. It was groovy and melodic, often uplifting, and it had an unusual mix of jazzy piano tunes and surreal organ hits, yet still managing to keep a remarkable atmosphere to the levels. Frequently played throughout the music were loud electric guitar pangs (they were rather spontaneous spasms, yet they always kept in rhythm). On that note, with Stewart Copeland's exceptional rhythmic skills, the music also contained a vast amount of layers hosting a variety of different percussion instruments, most memorably the high-pitched glockenspiel-like tinkle, which could be labelled as Spyro's signature sound."
Stewart also composed the soundtracks to three Spryo sequels: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, Spyro: Year Of The Dragon, and Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly.
