The song was the first one to be recorded on the first day of the [[Ten Summoner's Tales]] recording session ([[1992-08-10]]).

The band played [[If I Ever Lose My Faith In You]] five times. The bass was later replaced during mixing sessions at [[The Town House]] - on [[1992-11-09]] and [[1992-11-23]] (it was the only song to feature the Fender Precision bass), as were some guitar parts. The only overdubs were a harmonica part by [[Sting]], a Synclavier organ and some percussion parts played by [[Sting]] and [[Vinnie Colaiuta]] on an old Linn. [[Sting]]'s vocals and the Harmonica part of the song were recorded on a Sony 800 G microphone.

The song was the first one to be recorded on the first day of the Ten Summoner's Tales recording session (1992-08-10).

The band played If I Ever Lose My Faith In You five times. The bass was later replaced during mixing sessions at The Town House - on 1992-11-09 and 1992-11-23 (it was the only song to feature the Fender Precision bass), as were some guitar parts.
