Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers both went to Piccadilly Radio's studios (at Piccadilly Plaza in Manchester) for an interview with Pete Baker. In that interview they discuss the latest single Can't Stand Losing You and Stewart's photo on the cover. They also talk about Illegal Records & Faulty Products and their first single Fall Out.
Stewart says folks are gonna love the new album, it's gonna be fabulous - as The Police worked on it a lot instead of playing concerts. Stewart also mentioned they are flying over to the States at the end of the week. Pete started off the interview by saying that his hair and voice is similar to Klark Kent... which Stewart playfully denies! The songs played during the interview (which are not on the master tape, as the songs were inserted in between the interview - as written inside the master tape box, in Pete Baker's own handwriting) were (in order) Can't Stand Losing You, Fall Out & Dead End Job.
The Police appear on Kid Jensen's BBC radio show later that day.
(In a 1996 interview Sting remembers being whisked off from the Southgate dancehall shoot (for Quadrophenia) on the back of a motorbike to do John Peel sessions. He probably mixed this up with today's BBC session - which would also explain why he wasn't promoting Can't Stand Losing You in Manchester together with Stewart and Andy)
