Trivia
Sting and Andy Summers fly to the USA today using the cheap Laker Skytrain company (Stewart is already there visiting his father). They arrive late at the airport from where Miles Copeland will drive them straight to CBGB's. They have to do a quick soundcheck in front of the audience.
Son and The Police play two sets each. The Police play their 2nd set in the morning hours of 1978-10-21. Sting was wearing his grey jumpsuit.
Talking to AC/DC's Brian Johnson in 2016-12-17 Sting remembers going to Phebe's grill between the two sets and ordering some food and a coffee - and falling in love with America because he got his coffee refilled for free.
Zecca Esquibel (from the Cherry Vanilla band) was in the audience that night.
Gregg Gerson (Son's drummer): "We played the one show opening for The Police. ... Stewart's front kick drum head was torn but the sound was fabulous. Charlie Martin was the engineer who designed and mixed all the shows in the early years at CBGB's."
