Trivia

Brian Bennett is the current banjo player and bandleader of the Vieux Carre Jazzmen. He remembers a band residency at The Diamond Inn in Ponteland, England, UK - where they played on Thursday nights. Around September / October 1973 the band was double booked on one occasion so that former bandleader Peter Gascoigne engaged a "scratch band", consisiting of Brian Bennet on banjo, Ronnie Young on trumpet, Sting on double bass and Gordon Herrick on drums. The 6-piece band had two other players which might have been Barry Soulsby on clarinet and Gordon Solomon on trombone.
