About the song

This second single of Klark Kent was recorded on 1978-08-05.

After the relative success of Don't Care (compared to The Police's singles) Klark Kent again went into Surrey Sound Studios to come up with another gem.

On 1978-08-22 Stewart recorded another version of this song at 21 Lena Gardens together with Kim Turner and Rod Lynton - the lyrics were sung to the guitar riff of Excesses. This version was eventually released on the bonus CD of the 2023 Klark Kent album - being described as a "demo".

Personnel

Klark Kent played all the instruments, of course.

Engineers at Surrey Sound Studios were Chris and Nigel Gray.

Cover photography by Janette Beckman, back cover photography by Peter Baylis.

Lyrics

I didn't drink and I never danced
I couldn't take no club romance
But this floozy had no shame
Libedo torpedo

I was -
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too weird to watusi
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango

What she did was hard to believe
Libedo torpedo
But by morning I couldn't leave
Libedo torpedo
Picking her up was like falling down the stairs
With her on top of me I couldn't put on any airs

I was
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too weird to watusi
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango

At my heart she took careful aim
Libedo torpedo
And you know that floozy had no shame
Libedo torpedo

I was
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too weird to watusi
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too weird to watusi
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too weird to watusi
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
Too kool to kalypso
Too tough to tango
