Gittler Guitar
Gittler Guitar
Artist: Andy Summers
Band or ensemble: The Police
Time gear used: 1983 - YYYY

Allan Gittler built 60 of these minimalistic guitars in the late 70s to 1982, a later run of 300 featured plastic parts. From the initial New York run forty were sold through the mail, and twenty from Allan Gittler's apartment on the Lower East Side - that's where Andy bought his. Bravo from July 22, 1982 features a photo with the guitar that looks like it might have been taken on 1982-03-30.

One of the originals is shown in New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Andy Summers had Gittler Guitar on the set of the I Advance Masked video with Robert Fripp (although it's not featured in the video itself). It can be seen in The Police's Synchronicity II video and some photo shoots.
